Penguin Awards Go to Ice Cream/ Novelty Promo Winners

Harrisburg, PA””An exciting Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties Promotion by the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) kept consumers chilling in the frozen aisles in June and July to create soaring sales. The most inspired and resourceful ice cream and novelties displays in six regional categories – Northeast, Southeast, East Central, West Central, Southwest, and Pacific/Western – were rewarded with 26 Gold and 40 Silver Penguin Awards. This year, the prestigious Amber Penguin Award will be presented to four companies who have won three consecutive Gold Penguins in the same category. In the East Central division, the Amber Penguin winners were Elmer’s County Market #180085, assisted by Kemps. In the Southeast division the Amber goes to Winn-Dixie #123 assisted by Edy’s Grand Ice Cream. Amber and Gold Penguin winners are invited to accept their celebrated awards at the Grand Awards Reception & Banquet on October 20, 2009 during the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention in Washington, DC.

All winning displays were honored for their presentation of the 20 sponsoring brands’ ice cream and novelty products, as well as highlighting the $100,000 Summer Favorites Online Instant Win Game for consumers hosted on www.EasyHomeMeals.com. Contestants were invited to use the Special June/July Summer Favorites point of sale materials offered by NFRA. The promotion also included the sponsors’ support of the Food For All campaign. Their donations contributed towards the fight to end hunger worldwide and were recognized on point of sale items for consumer awareness.

NFRA is a non-profit trade association representing all segments of the frozen and refrigerated foods industry.
