I-44 Cold Storage Opens in Springfield, Mo.

I-44 Cold Storage, located literally just three minutes from I-44, has opened for business.

The facility has 2.7 million cubic feet of space and 8,110 slots, 11 dock doors and 2 cargo doors. The clmate-controlled racked facility has cooler space (33-55 degrees, 3,681 slots in three different rooms adjustable to fit specific temperature ranges) and freezer space (minus 12 to 10 degrees, with 2,614 slots in three different rooms, also adjustable to fit specific temperature ranges). There are also 2,130 dry slots.

I-44 provides public frozen, refrigerated, and dry storage, loading and unloading, order selecting, cross-docking, palletizing, lumping, load shifts, short and long term storage, inventory management and web-based ordering.

“With exceptional customer service, I-44 specializes in adapting services to meet customers’ ever changing needs. Especially sensitive to the rigorous schedules that freight carriers have, I-44 prides themselves on fast and efficient loading and unloading. No truck will wait hours after appointment time to be unloaded!,” according to Clay Borchers, I-44 general manager.

“As a former truck driver I make sure our carriers are taken care of and get loaded and unloaded fast. Time is money to these guys and they have better things to do than stand around a warehouse waiting on their loads. Our staff is instructed to act as if they personally own the inventory and treat it accordingly. We think of this operation as a large extended family, from giving personal days for family endeavors to cooking meals for the employees” says Borchers.
