Kysor/Warren Honored with Community Green Award

Manufacturer of refrigerated display cases and systems recognized for being a good steward of the environment.

Columbus, GA -  Kysor/Warren, a division of Manitowoc Foodservice and one of the top manufacturers of refrigerated display cases and refrigerated systems for supermarkets in North America, announced today that it received the Community Green Award from WLTZ-NBC 38 in Columbus, Georgia. The award recognizes the company’s efforts in creating a business model including green initiatives that promote being good stewards of the environment.

“WLTZ NBC 38 and the CW GA-BAMA are proud to welcome Kysor/Warren into our family of Community Green Award recipients,” said Miller Robson, Promotions and Marketing Director. “Their commitment to protecting the environment with their many initiatives serves as a wonderful example of how local businesses can do their part in preserving this piece of land we call home.”

An example of the company’s commitment to protecting the environment is its STRATUS product line, a series of refrigerated display merchandisers featuring an innovative, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly design. Unveiled in May 2009, the display cases are the state-of-the-art in sustainable products reducing energy consumption for grocery retailers by 16 percent. The product line also features lighting that lowers energy usage by at least 60 percent. Additionally, Kysor/Warren unveiled in October 2009, the grocery industry’s first cascading refrigeration system with naturally occurring carbon dioxide (CO2) to keep frozen and fresh foods cold. The first-of-its-kind CO2 cascading system reduces ozone-depleting refrigerants by 30 percent

Kysor/Warren’s George Parsons, Vice President of Engineering/Product Development, and Travis Lumpkin, Vice President of Business Systems both accepted the award on behalf of the company.
“We are extremely proud of our efforts to create products that not only provide energy-efficient solutions for our customers, but that also help save and protect our environment,” said Parsons.

“Kysor/Warren is honored to receive this award. We will remain committed to the conservation and improved use of our resources,” continued Lumpkin.

In addition to producing environmentally-friendly products, Kysor/Warren implements several green initiatives within its daily operations including recycling cardboard; reducing the amount of styrofoam used in shipping; and adding motion sensors to light fixtures to conserve energy.
