How can PL merchandising be improved?
This is a forum for any topic you’d like to discuss, but I’m starting it off with a pretty simple question you surely have an opinion about: How can private label merchandising be improved in the frozen and dairy departments? Are we trending toward too much private label, or is there room for lots more? What works, and what doesn’t?
Please feel free to comment on these questions, or on any topic. For example, I’m planning a cover story on Winco, and will be calling people to ask for insights.
The rules here are simple: No libel, slander, or conspiring in ways that Mssrs. Robinson and Patman would not appreciate. No bad language. No flaming or screaming. Otherwise, please join the forum here!

Seems to me that the expansion of PL in frozen is simply experiencing some growing pains. The debate over integrated or segregated merchandising is very different for most retailers now. Back when the store brand movement moved into the freezer case, it made sense to display PL next to simiar national brands. Now it may make more sense to brand block them. It would certainly make the visual less hodge-podgey and draw attention to the store brand products. So, the question for a retailer to ask is: Has the brand been developed well enough to stand on its own and take it to the next level?
