Weis Partners with Tastykake on PL Ice Cream

(Sunbury, PA) – Weis Markets today announced it recently introduced five new flavors of Weis Quality Ice Cream flavored with some of Tastykake’s most popular products including cream-filled chocolate cupcake, Butter Scotch Krimpet and Peanut Butter Kandy Kake.
The special edition flavors, which are produced by Weis Markets’ ice cream plant in Sunbury, PA. The flavors are:
Weis Quality/Tastykake Butter Scotch Krimpet,
Weis Quality/Tastykake Cream-filled Chocolate Cupcake
Weis Quality/Tastykake Coconut Junior
Weis Quality/Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kake
Weis Quality/Tastykake Koffee Kake.
“We’re celebrating national ice cream month (July) a little early. Since Weis Quality Ice Cream is one of our best-sellers and we sell a lot of Tastykake products, we decided to combine the two,” said Regina Tator, Weis Markets’ Director of Private Brands. “As a locally focused retailer, our private brand team is always looking for opportunities to work with well-known, high-quality local suppliers – Weis Quality Tastykake Ice Cream is a perfect example of our approach.”
Weis Markets’ ice cream plant currently produces 65 flavors of Weis Quality ice cream, sherbet and frozen yogurt. Overall, the Company now sells 6,700 private brand products throughout its grocery, fresh and non-foods departments under various labels including Weis Quality and Weis Five-Star.
